Pet XP and leveling time calculator

Add the effective XP per second you actually observe after passive boosts. The tool sums every level with floor(20 × age^2.02). Direct age gains, level-up items, ability triggers, downtime, and hunger pauses are not converted into fake XP.

This is a continuous-XP scenario. Real elapsed time is longer when hunger reaches zero or the pet is unequipped, and can be shorter when a pet ability or item grants age directly.

Level-by-level math

Every age is summed

XP rises non-linearly, so the calculator evaluates every age between the current and target state. It also subtracts XP already earned in the current level.

High-age warning

Age 500 is an extrapolation

The community reference says some higher-age rows were predicted with the same equation. June–July 2026 player reports support million-scale requirements above Age 100, but do not prove every level.

Time boundary

Continuous XP only

Enter a measured net XP rate after passive boosts. Direct level abilities and items are kept outside the estimate because they are not interchangeable with XP per second.

How to measure effective XP per second

  1. 1. Keep one setup

Equip the same target pet and helper pets, keep hunger above zero, and avoid changing mutations or boosts during the sample.

  2. 2. Record a longer interval

Write down starting XP, wait at least several minutes, and record ending XP. Longer samples reduce display-rounding noise.

  3. 3. Divide XP by seconds

Subtract starting XP from ending XP, then divide by elapsed seconds. Enter that observed net rate in the calculator.

  4. 4. Recheck after a patch

Repeat the sample whenever the game changes pet abilities, XP helpers, hunger behavior, or the maximum age.

Formula source and evidence boundary

The XP equation comes from the community-maintained Grow a Garden Wiki Pets page, which explicitly marks some high-age values as predicted. Recent player discussions independently report Age 500 and multi-million XP requirements at higher ages. Those reports support the scale of the result, not exact validation of every level or a guaranteed completion time.

Pet XP calculator FAQ

What is the Grow a Garden pet XP formula?

The community-maintained Pets reference models the XP required for the next age as floor(20 × age^2.02). Some high ages were originally predicted rather than measured, so this site labels the equation as a community model instead of an official guarantee.

How much XP does a pet need to reach Age 500?

Use the calculator because the answer depends on the pet's current age and XP already earned in that age. The tool sums each individual level rather than multiplying one level by the number of ages.

Does the calculator include French Fry Ferret or level-up items?

No. Those mechanics can grant age directly or behave differently above older caps, so converting them to a fixed XP rate would be misleading. The time result only models continuous XP earned per second.

Why can actual leveling time differ?

Pets stop gaining normal age progress when hunger is empty, and a pet may not stay equipped continuously. Patches, rounded displays, helper abilities, direct age gains, and boost uptime can all change real elapsed time.

Continue the pet workflow

XP answers how long ordinary leveling may take. Use the age tool for weight and cooldown projections, then keep the same pet attributes when estimating Trade Tokens.
